Mental Health Matters in Construction

We all understand how important maintaining good mental health is, but it is often less clear where to go for help. At Cannon Kirk Homes we are always looking for new ways to support our workforce and are backing the critical service provided by the Lighthouse Club – The Construction Industry Charity.

With two construction workers taking their lives every single day; and stress, depression, or anxiety accounting for a fifth of all work-related illness in construction, it is easy to understand why the Lighthouse Club charity initiatives like, Help Inside the Hard Hat, are necessary.

Cannon Kirk Homes has become an Annual Company Supporter of the Lighthouse Club, the only charity offering mental, physical, and financial wellbeing support to the construction community and their families, to promote the many lifesaving services available to help people in need.

The Lighthouse Club, a founding member of the industry-led online portal Building Mental Health, offers a 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline, a Construction Industry App featuring expert guidance on a huge variety of wellbeing issues, and a range of free interactive wellbeing sessions, including a full two-day MHFA England approved Mental Health Aider course.

Mandy Lott, Sales Manager for Cannon Kirk Homes, said: “As a responsible developer, at Cannon Kirk Homes we are proud to support a charity with a long history of supporting thousands of workers and their families since 1956.

“We never take for granted the contribution made by our team of construction workers or their families, and fully endorse the mission of the Lighthouse Club, to ensure that no construction worker or their family is alone in a crisis.”
