Swavesey 2-6 Littleport Town Colts U12
Littleport signed off their first season with a comforatble victory at Swavesey.
In a game played in very sporting circumstances Port started slowly and in a very generous mood giving Swavesey some early chances to score. Port as usual looked sharp on the break and Harlee Cater played in Colt Harvey to open the scoring. A harsh handball decision however gave the home team a chance to equalise from the penalty spot but Morgan Coleridge dived to his left to save superbly.
Port continued to struggle during the first half and spurned a number of chances as they failed to settle on the ball however they doubled their lead when Harvey struck from long range with a shot that flew straight through the net.
Half-time should have seen Port enjoy a comfotable second half and play some good football but again they started sloppily and Swavesey deservedly pulled a goal back with a superb shot the gave Coleridge no chance. This seemed at last to spur Port into action and at last they played some good passing cutting thro the home defence time after time. Tom Wakefield raced down the right wing and with a superb cross shot from wide out beat the keeper but saw his shot go narrowly wide. Soon after Cater raced thro the home defence before chipping the goal keeper for a shot that went into the far corner for number 3. After that Wakefield finished well from a cross from the left for number 4. Cater and Harvey went close to adding further goals before Ben Wakefield twice went close to a headed goal from a Cristiano Cabrial corner. Shortly after that Port added number 5 when a good move down the left saw Harvey pass then ball inside to Cater who again passed on into the centre for Thomas Green to control and finish well.
Swavesey pulled back a goal direct from a corner before Harvey again raced thro before being pulled down by two defenders and coolly slotted home for number 6.
A satisfying victory and good final 20 minutes of the match which saw Port score and create numerous chances.
Overall a good finish to the season that after a slow start saw Port enjoy a lot of success and bodes well for next season.
Well done boys
