Littleport Town Colts 0-3 Burwell Tigers

Port lost their recent unbeaten run at home to a Burwell side destined for promotion

The official start of summer saw the clocks change and this distrupted Port initially will 3 players late for kick-off!

Once the game got underway however Port dominated early proceedings. Thomas Green looked strong at the back with some crunching challenges on Burwells dangerman and this inspired his team-mates to the same attitude as they knocked the league leaders out of their stride. Port created the best early opportunities with Harlee Cater and Colt Harvey going close, Harvey creating problems again with his pace but with better finishing could have given Port the lead, in fact by the end of the first quarter Port could easily have been 3 up. As the half progressed Burwell began to impose themselves however Port remained strong in defence shutting out any danger to keeper Gareth Ball. Disaster struck however around 5 minutes before the break when a rare mistake from Ball saw Burwell take the lead somewhat fortunately.

Half-time arrived with Port still in the game and confident of clawing back the deficit.

Burwell however dominated large periods of the second half without creating too many clear chances but soon saw their lead increase to 3 as Port pushed forward in an attempt to get back in the game. The formation was a bit dis-jointed though with the midfield playing too deep on occasions to support the attack and apply much sustained pressure.

Port did not give up and kept battling away and still created enough second half chances to have recovered. Cristiano Cabrial went close from a cross, a long range effort from Tommy Faulkner went narrowly wide while Ethan Povey also went close when well positioned in the area.

All in all a reasonable display overall however with a few players below par and missed chances Port missed the chance of gaining anything from the game.

Once again however the game was spoiled by some over zelous parents and supporters from the away team and bad attitudes from their players which was disappointing from such a good footballing side.

Team: Gareth Ball, Ben Wakefield, Thomas Green, Morgan Coleridge, Tom Faulkner, Tom Wakefield, Ethen Povey, Jamie Davidson, Cristiano Cabrial, Deividas Paukstys, Colt Harvey, Harlee Cater
